Why Use Series?
As a result of changes in materials and manufacturing processes which have been made in the solar cover industry over the years competing solar cover products with the same “Mil” no longer perform equally.
Modernizing how PoolSupplies.com describes the performance of a solar cover, we now refer to a Series number instead of a Mil size. Depending on the climate where you live, there are differing needs for Heat Production, Heat Retention and Longevity of a solar cover. These combined attributes are what define the Series categories:
How Do I Pick?
If you have always purchased the same Mil solar cover there may be some questions as to which Series cover to purchase. It’s easy. The 800 Series solar cover has the same performance attributes of Longevity, Heat Production and Heat Retention as our prior 8 Mil solar cover. The same is true for our 1200 and 1600 Series and our prior corresponding 12 Mil and 16 Mil covers.
